Sorachi de Cycling/winter active report

I rented mountain bike with spiked tires and went on my first snow cycling adventure.
I wore a neck warmer and a small heat pack in my shoes.
I carefully tried moving on the roads icy with frozen patches.
I felt the tires gripping the snow strongly more strongly that I had expected.
When I tested the brakes, the tires stopped instantly.
Cool! I started cycling on the road covered with pressed snow.
All I could see was the silver snow world with the Shokanbetsu Mountains in the distance.
I got used to the icy road and sped ahead.
But before long, at one corner, my rear tire slipped.
I managed to stop it before I fell.
The ride was so comfortable and smooth, it was just like riding in summer! I learned that when you turn a corner, you should try not to lean your bike but keep it upright instead.
After a while, I got to my destination, Kitamura Onsen foot bath.
By that time I had worked up a good sweat because riding on the snow required a lot more energy than I had thought.
My hands and feet felt frozen to the bone.
Taking off my socks, I put my feet in the hot onsen water.
Oh, so good! The foot bath warmed me up and refreshed me.
I was ready to head back out to the snow fields! I enjoyed cycling in the silver wonderland and headed back for my destination, the Roadside station Mikasa.
