There are some long steep hills in this course, which takes you to Lake Katsurazawa and Lake Shuparo. You will also visit the Coal Mining Museum, which gives you a look back at the prosperous era of this mining town. There aren't many shops on the way, so be sure to carry plenty of water and food.

Each season offers something different on this course. Viewing spots include Hoppo Yaso-en and Etanbetsu Pass. Events are held all the year round such as the World Soba(Buckwheat) Festival and the Shumarinai Lake Festival.
