This is the perfect course for serious cyclists! Most of the course was once used in "Tour de Hokkaido", a major international bicycle race.
Soon after I started and rode through the center of Yubari-shi, I got to the most difficult section, which includes Teimi Pass.
I went up the long steep hills with their 10% gradient, looking down on the Coal Mining Historical Museum.
It looked smaller and smaller the farther up I went.
After several hairpin curves, I thought I had reached the top.
But I was wrong.
Not long after that, I thought I had reached the top again.
Wrong again.
I repeated this several times before finally reaching the top-the vast grass field of Teimi Fuchi Park! I was so relieved and decided to take a break with a cinnamon doughnut from Usagiya.
Then I resumed my ride.
I expected a downhill but found myself again pedaling uphill.
Oh! I found I was still one kilometer away from the real summit.
From the top, it was an uneven downhill through a mountain pass.
I passed through fruits orchards, flat farm land, and rolling hills.
Finally, I came to the uphill to Lake Katsurazawa, relatively gentle compared with Teimi Pass.
There were no shops and restaurants for 40 km, so it's best to bring something to eat and drink.
But at the same time, that's 40 km of untouched nature.
After passing Lake Shuparo, I got to the Nanbu area.
I was back in civilization and sad to have concluded my tour.
