I love fruits more than anything! So when I heard that there are many orchards in Fukagawa that offer fruit picking, I thought I have to come.
I started out and first turned right onto the Route 12.
Almost immediately the uphill road to the Otoe Mountains, much sooner than I had expected! But with a slope of 3-4 %, it was not too bad.
I went up at a comfortable pace for 3 km and went through a tunnel under the Expressway.
There I saw a sign for Komori Engei in the shape of an apple.
It was my first stop.
At the orchard, I paid the 500 yen entrance fee and picked the two clusters of grapes to which that entitled me.
After enjoying the sweet grapes, I biked down the slope of the mountain, made a right turn at Totoro Pass, and made my way to Fujitani Orchard, my second stop.
Here you can pick apples straight from the tree for 100 yen a piece.
I picked two big juicy red ones and devoured them on the spot.
From there on it was all downhill to the finishing point.
There are so many orchards on and near this course.
Today, I just visited two of them.
But I thought, if I train myself so I can handle the uphill slopes, I can visit many more next time.
I should do that!
